Viewing E-Books

Each e-book in the collection has a Table of Contents page, which can be accessed by clicking on the e-book's title or cover.  This page provides basic information about the e-book (author, publisher, etc.), an abstract, related links (list of e-books in related subjects) and the table of contents. To view the e-book contents, click on the chapter you want to read.

When the chapter is displayed, use the sidebar on the left for quick navigation:

You can also click on Previous or Next, found at the beginning and end of the e-book page, to move to the previous or next sections of the e-book.

Printing

To print pages, use the Print function of your web browser.

Users are reminded to comply with The Copyright Act and Regulations of Singapore. A reasonable amount that may be printed from an e-book would not exceed 10% of the total number of bytes/pages in the e-book, of if chaptered, one chapter. Printing an entire e-book violates copyright laws. The material should be for personal use and study, and not distributed.

Linking

You may provide a link directly to an e-book page by copying its link from the Address Bar.

Bookmarks and Notes

Click on the Bookmark icon to add a bookmark to the location currently viewed in the e-book. The bookmark will also be added to the Default bookshelf folder.

Click on the Bookmark with Note icon to go to the Bookmark form where you can add a note to the current location and choose which bookshelf folder to add the e-book.

As this is a multi-user subscription account shared by all SP Library users, bookmarks and notes can be created, viewed and changed by all users.

Downloading

E-books from Books24x7 are currently available for online browsing only.

Additional Content

If an e-book has CD content available, the links will be in the Table of Contents page, as well as in appropriate chapters. Examples of additional content are extra chapters, code examples, and sample files.
